Today most girls would like to wear short dresses for prom, instead of long gowns, which were the rage sometime back. Short dresses were normally not considered ‘formal’ attire, especially for parties, including like proms, weddings, gala dinners, balls and the like. However, fashion rules have become more comfortable in the last few decades, and today, the “little black dress” (LBD) for formal and social occasions, is a must-have in any girl or woman’s wardrobe! However, even though short prom dresses are in, it is pretty important to take into account that not anybody could carry off the look. Some points on putting on a short dress on a prom night are listed below:
1 Not all girls are created identical and there is no standard “short” dress that will fit all and look good!
2The factors which need to be considered are height, weight, body style and type, plus proportions such as bust to waist, waist to hips, upper body to the lower body, etc.
3 Girls along with an hourglass body shape can wear any types and get away with it, given that this is thought of as to be the ‘ideal feminine curve. However, halter-style dresses are the best alternative if you get an hourglass shape.
4 If you have an athletic build or a beautiful skinny frame with long legs, you can by no means go wrong with any kind of short dress. Sleeveless or spaghetti straps styles are a good choice.
5 Pear-shaped maidens will look greatest in A-line or baby doll dresses– fitted at the top and following below the waistline.
6 Black is the common favored selection, and one can never go wrong with an LBD. Otherwise, pickyour short prom dresses in colours which accent your skin tone.
7 Hemlines are just as important– tall ladies with athletic build can carry off dresses with hemlines above the knees, but if you are height-challenged or have short, stubby legs, an above-the-knee hemline will do you know perfect.
8 Soft fabrics such as satin or silk are suitable for short evening gowns, and yet you will be able to also experiment with airy materials such as chiffons in pastel colors.
9 Accessorize your short dress having the good shoes, makeup, jewelry and handbags. You must feel and look suitable in what you’re donning, so skip the stilettos or high heels if you cannot manage walking in them.
10 Refrain from short dresses with a large number of accessories such as sequins, beads, and many others. And if you must have frills and ruffles, keep them short and to the bare minimum. It ruffles are a no-no if you are plus-sized or have a heavy upper body or short, stubby legs.
11Plan and pick out your prom dress well in advance, as a last minute rushes to mean you might end up making the improper decisions or the dress you were yearning for is no longer available!
12 Seek expert advice from shop personnel or close family and friends who will never lead you wrong!
13If you have the time, money and patience, get your short gown made to order, or make it yourself if you’re talented with a sewing machine.
